Staff Platform Engineer

21/07/2025
  • Permanent role based in Australia
  • Hybrid or Remote options available.
  • Golang, Kubernetes, AWS

This isn’t a role for someone who just wants to keep the lights on. It’s for someone who wants to build better systems and bring others along for the ride.

You’re a senior engineer who thinks in platforms, not just features. Someone who cares just as much about observability and reliability as they do clean code. This team builds systems that support internal product and engineering teams across a fast moving, tech led org. The work you do here will shape how software is built, deployed, and scaled across the company.

This role is a mix of hands-on engineering and technical leadership. You’ll work closely with product teams, infrastructure specialists, and engineering managers to shape internal tooling, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, platform health, and developer experience. You’ll improve what exists, fix what’s broken and lead by example. The teams you’ll support move fast, and your work helps them do it with confidence without sacrificing scale, security, or uptime.

This is the kind of role where you:

  • Drive automation and tooling that engineers actually want to use
  • Lead incident response without pointing fingers
  • Set standards that raise the bar across dozens of teams
  • Mentor mid and senior engineers without needing a formal title
  • Contribute to tech strategy, roadmaps, and architectural decisions

What we’re looking for:

You’ve been the go-to person for platform problems before. You’ve seen the impact of good infra decisions and the fallout from bad ones. Maybe you’ve even helped an org climb the DevSecOps maturity curve.

More specifically, we’re after someone with:

  • In-depth expertise in Kubernetes architecture and ecosystem
  • Strong programming and scripting skills, particularly in Go or Bash
  • Experience building platform components such as Kubernetes operators, admission controllers, or internal developer platforms
  • A proven ability to lead and influence infrastructure and architectural decisions at scale
  • A software engineering background—not infrastructure-only
  • Familiarity with modern cloud-native tooling, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, and observability stacks
  • A track record of improving deployment velocity, platform health, and engineering workflows
