Senior Quality Engineer – Automation

Melbourne | Hybrid | Financial Services domain
6 months contract role

We’re partnering with a well-established financial services organisation currently delivering a major security and platform modernisation program, and are looking for a Senior Quality Engineer with strong automation capability to join a high-performing engineering environment.

This is a hands-on QE role focused on improving automation maturity, supporting fast-moving delivery pipelines, and helping uplift quality practices across enterprise applications and integration-heavy systems. You’ll be working closely with developers, platform engineers, and delivery teams within a modern CI/CD environment undergoing critical security upgrades and platform enhancements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks across enterprise applications
  • Work hands-on with Playwright, Selenium, and TypeScript-based automation tooling
  • Maintain, improve, and refactor legacy automation frameworks
  • Support regression testing and release readiness across frequent deployment cycles
  • Embed automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions and Jenkins
  • Contribute to shift-left testing practices and quality engineering capability uplift
  • Collaborate closely with developers and platform teams across cloud-hosted environments
  • Support automation strategy, test scope definition, and continuous improvement initiatives

What we’re looking for:

  • 7+ years’ experience across QA / Quality Engineering environments
  • Extensive hands-on automation-focused QE experience
  • Strong experience with Playwright, Selenium, and TypeScript automation frameworks
  • Proven capability implementing and maintaining automation within CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience working within enterprise delivery environments and Agile teams
  • Strong understanding of regression testing and modern release practices
  • Exposure to cloud-hosted or cloud-native applications (AWS highly regarded)
  • Ability to work across both new and legacy automation environments
  • Financial Services experience highly desirable

This is a strong opportunity to join a critical transformation program within a mature engineering environment, working on meaningful platform uplift initiatives with modern tooling and delivery practices.
