Principal Engineer – Help Build Australia’s All-Electric Future
From 2026, a major new initiative will transform how Australians transition to electric living, a one-stop shop that will provide:

- A trusted installer marketplace for obligation-free quotes
- A product marketplace with a range of capabilities and price points
- Easy access to government rebates and financing information
We’re looking for a Principal Engineer who wants to build technology that genuinely improves how people engage with essential services.
The Opportunity:
You’ll guide the technical direction of a consumer-facing platform used by everyday Australians. This role blends hands-on engineering with architectural leadership, giving you autonomy to influence engineering quality, design choices, and long-term technical strategy. Technical Lead PD
You’ll collaborate with product, UX, and cross-functional partners to extend a modern platform supporting secure, accessible, and intuitive digital experiences.
What You’ll Work On:
- Setting and owning the architecture across front-end and back-end systems.
- Leading and mentoring engineers to uphold high standards in coding, testing, and delivery.
- Ensuring compliance with government-grade security and accessibility requirements.
- Designing scalable, maintainable systems that support high-impact public services.
- Working across microservices, APIs, cloud environments, and observability tooling.
- Contributing to roadmap planning and managing technical risk.
Skills That Will Help You Succeed:
- Experience as a Technical Lead, Principal Engineer, or similar role.
- Strong capability in modern web technologies (Typescript, Python, SQL/NoSQL).
- Knowledge of microservices, AWS Lambda, API Gateway, cloud platforms, and CI/CD.
- Familiarity with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to navigate fast-paced, agile delivery environments.
